What is ME?

ME is Alberta Wide Borrowing – a free, self-register online service accessed at ME allows you to use your own library card to borrow materials at any participating library you have registered with. All items must be picked up at the owning library can conveniently be returned to any ME library.

When I sign up with one library, will all libraries have a ME account for me?

No. You must specify which libraries (or library system) you want your account information sent to.

Do I get a ME card? 

Once you are registered, your home library card is used to borrow materials from the library you are visiting.

What are the requirements for registration? 

A current library card in good standing and PIN from a participating Alberta library and an email address are the requirements to register. For a list of participating libraries, visit

Library staff can assist if you need help by taking you through the registration process.

Are there any restrictions when using ME?

You have unlimited access to the physical collections of other libraries. However, electronic resources and digital content (like eBooks) are excluded. Local borrowing rules for each participating library apply.

Are children permitted to register for ME?

Yes, but it must be done in person at the lending library, as parental consent is required to create accounts for people under the age of 18.

Where do I go to see items I have checked out from other libraries?

When you register with a library for ME, your patron record is copied into that library’s system. For example, if you check out items from Edmonton Public Library using your ME account, you would log in to their catalogue to view those items.

Where do I return items borrowed using ME?

Items may be returned at any participating ME library, including your home library.
